Rules and Expectations

Academic and Social Expectations

1. Good Conduct

1.1. All pupils should be on their best behaviour both in and out of school. They should be polite (this includes simple but important gestures like greeting teachers), considerate and respectful to self and others. When punishment is given, pupils are expected to accept it like a gentleman.

2. Respect for Authority & Others

2.1. Respect for Authority is the underlying tone of the school

2.2. The school regards each individual with respect and hence a reciprocal response from the community is expected. Honesty and integrity must mark each pupil. Personal and community property must be respected at all times. It is very important that members of this community can trust each other.

3. Active Involvement & Service to the School

3.1. Pride in the school comes in the form of each pupil’s support at competitions and all organised school activities and his willingness to contribute his personal expertise to the school.

3.2. Attendance at all official school functions is therefore compulsory.

4. Self Respect & Pride in School

4.1. Self Respect and pride in the school are revealed by the pupil’s manners, appearance and attitudes towards others.

4.2. Bad language is obnoxious and must not be used.

4.3. The uniform must be worn with a sense of pride at all times. If pupils return to school during the holidays, they are reminded to be attired in their school uniform, PE attire or CCA attire.

4.4. Courtesy must be extended to every member of the community: peers, staff (teaching and non-teaching) support personnel (gardeners, cleaners and canteen helpers) and guests of the school.

5. Proper Attitudes of Learning

5.1. The school has a track record of academic excellence. We expect every pupil to meet all deadlines, submit assignments which reflect a high level of commitment and standard, give undivided attention during class and be a team worker when working with his peers on group projects.

5.2. Attendance at lessons and related activities is expected. Under no circumstances may lessons and related activities be missed unless prior permission is given. Punctuality at these activities is also a matter of courtesy.

5.3. Should a pupil default persistently in the academic area, he will be sent for Academic Detention, which will take place outside curriculum time.

5.4. Academic Detention will take precedence over all the offender’s prior and current commitments, including CCA training and home tuition.
