Admission Information
Application is open to all students intending to pursue the 6-year Raffles Programme (RP). Years 1 to 4 will be at Raffles Institution and Years 5 to 6 will be at Raffles Junior College , ending with the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level Examination (GCE A Level).
The age criteria for pupils (locals and foreigners) at the various levels of study in academic year 2008 are age 13 for year 1 through age 16 for year 4.

Fee Information
1. Financial Aid
It is the school's policy to admit students based on merit, regardless of their race, creed, social and financial background. Hence, financial assistance will be offered to boys who cannot afford their fees. The financial assistance schemes are offered by the school, its charitable partners, as well as generous external bodies.
2. Independent Schools Bursary Scheme and Edusave Scholarships for Singapore Citizens
2.1 The Ministry of Education (MOE) offers the following bursary scheme and/or scholarships for Singapore Citizens studying in Independent Schools (IS) or the Integrated Programme (IP):
Independent Schools Bursary Scheme (ISB);
Edusave Entrance Scholarships for Independent Schools (EESIS);
Edusave Scholarships for Integrated Programme Schools (ESIP); and
Edusave (Independent Schools) Yearly Awards [E(IS)YA].
2.2 The MOE revised the award quantum for the EESIS, ESIP and [E(IS)YA] to a fixed quantum of $2,400 per annum in 2008.
2.3 Singaporean RI students who are awarded EESIS in or before 2007 will not be affected. For them, the school fee payable in the 2008 academic year is up to $13 per month.
Independent Schools Bursary Scheme (ISB)
2.4 The ISB has been implemented for IS students at ALL levels from 2008. The ISB provides a tiered subsidy of 33% to 100% of fees to any Singaporean IS student from a household with:
i. 1-2 children and with a gross monthly income (GHI) of up to $7200. (See Table A.); OR
ii. 3 or more children and with EITHER a gross monthly income (GHI) of up to $7200 OR Monthly Gross Income Per Dependent Child (GIPDC)* of up to $2900. (See Table B.)
* Dependent children refer to unmarried children under 16 years of age, unmarried children over 16 years receiving full time education, or unmarried handicapped children.

Edusave Entrance Scholarships for Independent Schools (EESIS)
2.5 The EESIS are awarded up to the top one-third of the total number of pupils posted to Secondary One in all independent schools, based on their PSLE results.
2.6 GEP pupils will be offered the EESIS, provided that they:
i. meet the GEP promotion criteria; and
ii. are enrolled in the Integrated Programme in an Independent School at Secondary One.
2.7 The tenure of the scholarship is 6 years for pupils in the Integrated Programme. The scholar must make good progress each year in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
2.8 Singaporean RI students awarded the EESIS in or after 2008 may also apply for the revised Independent Schools Bursary (ISB), provided they meet the household income requirements. [Please see the information on ISB in paragraph 2.4.]
This means that recipients awarded both EESIS in/after 2008 and ISB need only to pay up to $13 per month for their school fees in/after 2008. Recipients awarded EESIS in 2008 but not ISB will pay $100 per month for their school fees in the 2008 academic year.
Edusave Scholarships for Integrated Programme Schools (ESIP)
2.9 The ESIP are awarded to pupils enrolled in / admitted into the Integrated Programme in an Independent School at Secondary 3, who do not have the EESIS and
i. had met the GEP promotion criteria;
ii. had met the EESIS eligibility criteria based on their performance in the PSLE; or
iii. have performed well in the Integrated Programme Scholarships Test.
2.10 The tenure of the scholarship is 4 years for pupils in the Integrated Programme. The scholar must make good progress each year in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
Edusave (Independent Schools) Yearly Awards [E(IS)YA]
2.11 The MOE offers the [E(IS)YA] to pupils in Independent Schools who are not already holding EESIS or ESIP. These are given to the top 5% Singaporean pupils by level in each independent school based on their school examination results at the end of the year. These awards are to encourage and reward pupils who have excelled academically for that year.
3. Singapore-MOE Award (SMA) for Non-Singapore Citizens
3.1 The MOE offers the SMA to GEP pupils who are non-Singapore citizens, provided that:
i. they have met the GEP promotion criteria; and
ii. they are enrolled in the Integrated Programme in an Independent School at Secondary One.
3.2 The MOE revised the award quantum for SMA to a fixed quantum of $2,400 per annum in 2008.
3.3 RI students who are Singapore Permanent Residents and awarded the SMA in or after 2008 have to pay $ 160 per month for their school fees in the 2008 academic year. Students who are foreigners and awarded the SMA in or after 2008 have to pay $400 per month for their school fees in the 2008 academic year.
3.4 The tenure of the scholarship is 6 years for pupils in the Integrated Programme. The scholar must make good progress each year in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
4. The Raffles Institution Educational Grant
This is administered by the school at the beginning of the year after the MOE Financial Assistance Scheme. This scheme is designed to cater for those who do not qualify or who receive only part subsidy from the MOE Financial Assistance but still require some assistance to pay school fees. The grant will award different amounts of financial assistance depending on the financial circumstances of the pupil. Pupils may apply for this grant at any point in time in the year.
5. Examination Fee Subsidy Scheme
This subsidy is to help pupils to pay their examination fees due to financial constraints and hardship cases.
6. Free Textbooks Scheme
This scheme is to help pupils with financial constraints to purchase textbooks.
7. Other Scholarships
The school administers several scholarships each year for each level. Should the pupil wish to apply for a company or constituency scholarship, he should see his Year Head for endorsement.
8. Bursaries And Other Financial Assistance Schemes
As a secular school with no race or religious affiliations, the school has many pupils on scholarships given by organisations such as MENDAKI and SINDA.The school also receives invitations from external organisations to recommend pupils for their schemes. Details of these will be made known to the school throughout the year, by Head of Character & Leadership Education.

Supplementary Fee
The school has undertaken the construction of facilities, namely the swimming complex, gymnasium and a visual arts design centre. The objective of providing these facilities is to promote and enhance the physical and aesthetic aspects of education. The school needs to charge a monthly supplementary fee of $35 to cover the high operating costs which stem from manpower, utilities, repairs and maintenance.
Methods of Payment
Payment may be made in the following ways:
- Pay annually in advance by GIRO (direct debit from local bank account)
- Pay monthly by GIRO (direct debit from local bank account)
- Pay annually in advance by Cash/Cheque
- Pay monthly by Cash/Cheque
Boarding Fees
Every RI pupil is strongly encouraged to stay at the Boarding Houses for at least one term during his 4 years at RI. The fee structure is as follows:
* Special discounted fees for Term 3 and Term 4
Term 3 - $1, 462.50 (10 % discount)
Term 4 - $1, 300.00 (20 % discount)
Boarding Fees may be paid in advance either by cash, cheque or GIRO deduction.
