RI's 185th Anniversary Celebrations

Come June 2008, RI turns 185. The theme of the 185th Anniversary Celebrations is Past Continuous, Present Intense, Future Perfect. As we celebrate RI's illustrious tradition and recognise its luminous achievements, we want to reaffirm our commitment to society. We are convinced that all we do and achieve can only be meaningful when our society is the ultimate beneficiary. A number of programmes are in the pipeline and we would like to highlight the key events here:

Community Day on 20th March

Service to the community is an integral part of the Rafflesian identity. Generations of Rafflesians have gone on to become outstanding leaders in the public and private sectors. As we celebrate our 185th birthday, we want to remind ourselves of the importance of giving back to society what we have received in life.

20th March is earmarked on the school calendar as Community Day. On that day, all staff and students, together with some of our Old Boys, will dedicate ourselves to community service. We welcome all stakeholders of the school to join us in this meaningful activity. Details on how you can register will be available on the school website from early March.

Everyone involved in Community Day will be wearing a t-shirt specially designed for the 185 Celebrations. Current RI boys will also be given a commemorative notebook and a set of 3 buttons.

Youth Summit of the Asia-Pacific Conference on Giftedness (APCG)

RI pioneered gifted education in Singapore in 1984 and is an established Gifted Education Centre in Singapore. This July, we will co-organise the Youth Summit of the APCG with the Gifted Education Branch, Raffles Girls' School, Raffles Junior College and Rosyth Primary. The Youth Summit will be held from 14-18 July on our school campus, so school will be suspended for that week. Please note that to make up for the loss in curriculum time, Term 4 will be extended into Week 9 instead of the usual Week 8. The last day of school is tentatively fixed on 7 Nov 2008 (Fri.)

Founder's Day & Homecoming Parties for Old Boys

On Founder's Day in May, our upgraded school campus will be officially declared open. However, all Old Boys are welcome to return to their alma mater for free guided school tours from Jan 2008. They are also welcome to organise class reunion gatherings on the newly-renovated school campus. If you are interested to find out more, please email us at pro@ri.sch.edu.sg
