Host of Asian Youth Games Flag Presentation Ceremony
The inaugural Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2009 will be held in Singapore from 29 June to 7 July 2009. Up to 2,000 athletes from the 45 countries of Asia will be participating in the Games.
The Singapore contingent will be 140-strong, made up of 90 athletes and 50 officials. It is likely that we will participate in all 9 sports - Aquatics, Athletics, 3 on 3 Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Football, Sailing, Shooting and Table Tennis.
RI is honoured to have been the host of the AYG Flag Presentation Ceremony on 2 June 2009. The President of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), DPM Teo Chee Hean, presented the flag to Mr Lee Wung Yew, the Chef De Mission for the Singapore contingent, who then passed the flag to the flag bearer Ms Quah Ting Wen (Swimmer, RI student). The ceremony was attended by the contingent and officials from the SNOC, the Singapore Sports Council and the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
