Athletics
Description
Welcome to the web page of the Raffles Institution Athletics Team!
Athletics is also commonly known as the ‘Mother of All Sports’ because of its historical background since the beginning of mankind and the simplicity of the events involved (run, jump or throw). The sport is also one of the most keenly contested in the world. At the Olympics Games, the person who wins the 100m final will be given the tag of ‘The Fastest Man / Woman’ on earth.
On the local school scene, the Track & Field overall title remains the biggest and most challenging National Schools’ title up for grabs! Every July over 3 weeks, athletes from schools nationwide come together to compete against each other in the various running, jumping and throwing events. At the end of the competition, the school that accumulates the most number of points from all the discipline goes on to win the Overall Title and the Challenge Trophy.
